The Washington Commanders who are 2-0 this preseason which play their preseason finale Saturday night against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Bengals coming into Saturday are 0-1-1.
This is the first time the two teams are meeting in the preseason since the Commanders beat the Bengals in week two of the 2021 preseason.
Washington also has the chance to make a little bit of history with the chance to go undefeated in the preseason. After beating Cleveland week one and Baltimore this past week, a win versus Cincinnati gives the Commanders an undefeated preseason for the first time since 2013 when they went 4-0.
With the two wins already this is the first time the Commanders will have a winning preseason since 2016 in which they went 3-1.
Last Game saw some ups and downs for the Commanders. On the upside Sam Howell got the start and as he said “I thought it was alright. I think the main thing was just a lot of fun and it was a good team win.”
Coach Ron Rivera also commented on Howell’s performance versus Baltimore “I thought Sam did exactly what we were expecting him to do. He went out, executed, took control of the offense, took control of the huddle and did a good job at the line of scrimmage.”
Also on the upside was the performance of rookie Jartavius Martin who had an interception last game Coach Rivera said “I think he learned from last week. I think the biggest thing more than anything else was he put himself in position to make a play.”
On the downside Terry McLaurin is believed to have suffered a turf toe injury during the previous preseason game.
The Commanders leading receiver in 2022 and a receiver that came in the top 10 in receiving yards and yards per reception in 2022 may not be available for the preseason finale.
In worse news for the Ohio State receiver, certain reports say McLaurin may even not be available for the beginning of the regular season as his status for week one remains uncertain.
Who will step up in McLaurin’s possible absence will have to be determined during the preseason finale which is scheduled to kickoff on Saturday at 6:00 PM EST
